PALMER JONES

INTERIM DIRECTOR OF YOUTH AND NEXTGEN MINISTRIES

Contact: 843-662-2583

Describe your primary responsibilities at First: Ministering to our students in grades 7-12, partnering with parents, praying for our families, and creating an integrated plan of Christian nurture and discipleship for our students from “Cradle to College.”

What are your favorite books?
Jayber Crow (Wendell Berry), Humility: The Beauty of Holiness (Andrew Murray), The Memory of Old Jack (Wendell Berry), The Redwall Series (Brian Jacques), Celebration of Discipline (Richard Foster), The Harry Potter Series (J.K. Rowling), and The Intellectual Life: Its Spirits, Conditions, and Methods  (OP A. G. Sertillanges).

What is your favorite thing to do in Florence?
Spend time with my family and friends.

Tell us about your family:
Shout out to my parents, my brother and my sister –– we support each other well and enjoy the time we get to spend together. I am an uncle to an amazing little girl, and I’m also particularly blessed with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and  extended family.

Tell us about your hobbies:
I’d say I am teaching myself the banjo, but if you were to ask my family, they might say I only play the same three songs. Reading good books, walking through the woods, playing most sports, and exercising are all things I enjoy.

How do you see God moving at First? It has been a joy and a privilege to return to my home and to serve this community that has served me so well over the years. I am excited to play a part in ministering to our students!
