TAITER GARRETT

Interim Director of Youth and NextGen Ministries

Describe your primary responsibilities at First Presbyterian Church:
Walking along side the youth (7th – 12th grade) teaching them about God’s word & love, the importance of prayer / how to pray, speaking words of encouragement to them, reminding them how important it is to be consistent, to be servant minded, and to seek accountability from people they trust.
We meet together for fellowship several times a week, including (but not limited to) the following: Sunday School, Sunday Night Large Group, Small Groups, Wednesday Night Gathering and Thursday morning coffee.

What is your favorite thing to do in Florence?
I enjoy going on long bike rides or walks with my friends.

Tell us about your family: My family means the world to me. I am so thankful to the Lord for growing us closer over the years. My immediate family members live in Clarendon County & Summerville.

Tell us about your hobbies: I enjoy gardening, baking and cooking, reading, riding my bike, working out, spending time with my friends, taking lots of pictures, going to concerts and listening to music, especially Sara Groves, Bethany Dillon & John Mayer.

How do you see God moving at First Presbyterian?
The Lord is always up to something. For me, I see God moving in the way the youth are becoming a family, learning to pray for one another & speak kind words. We are consistently meeting together & He is meeting us there.
God has definitely been stretching & preparing me to step into the role of interim Youth Director. It’s encouraging to look back on things I have written down & prayed about for months that the Lord is now revealing what His plans have been all along. I believe this next season will be a season of growth, in many areas, for the youth & myself.
